We’re introducing a short lease extension option for customers who are coming to the end of their Motability Scheme car lease.
If you’re renewing, we’ll contact you directly by email or letter to let you know about your extension options. Choosing an extension is completely optional, and you can still order your next vehicle as normal if you’d prefer.
Why are we introducing this option?
Over the last few years, the vehicle industry has been disrupted by changes to the car market, the impact of the pandemic and supply chain challenges.
During this time many customers extended their leases while waiting for new vehicles to become available. This means we have more leases than usual ending at the same time.
To help manage this and give car customers greater flexibility when choosing their next vehicle, we’re offering some customers the opportunity to extend their current lease for a short period.
How long can I extend for?
Customers may be offered either a nine-month or 15-month extension. We’ll let you know the extension available to you via email or letter.
Will my lease terms change?
No. If you choose to extend your lease, your current lease terms will stay the same throughout the extension period.
I’m already in a lease extension, can I extend again?
No. Customers who are currently in a lease extension will not be able to extend their lease again.
Is this available to all Scheme customers?
No. This option is only available to car customers who are renewing their Motability Scheme lease from 1 July 2026.
Customers with a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV) or a Powered Wheelchair or Scooter are not eligible for this lease extension option
