Updates to the cars available on the Motability Scheme

You may have seen we announced yesterday an ambitious new commitment: from 2035, half of all vehicles leased through the Scheme will be British built.

We’re also refocussing the vehicles available on the Scheme, ensuring they meet our customers’ needs and are safe, reliable and affordable to run.

What’s changed

You may have noticed that we’ve taken cars from brands such as Alfa Romeo, Audi, BMW, Lexus and Mercedes off the price list.

We’ve also removed all coupe and convertible cars from other manufacturers.

These models tend to be higher-cost vehicles that sit outside the Scheme’s focus on essential, practical mobility.

Shape

There’s still plenty of choice

You’ll still find a wide range of cars to suit different needs and budgets:

  • More than 840 vehicles from around 30 different manufacturers

  • Around 40 vehicles with no Advance Payment and almost 100 with an Advance Payment under £500

  • The same choice of larger 7 seater cars, available from 10 different manufacturers

We’ll keep reviewing the range to make sure it continues to meet our disabled customers’ needs and represents the best value we can offer.

Your questions answered

When will the price list next be updated?

We update the price list in January, April, July and October. The next update will be on 1 January 2026.

Will these brands come back on to the Scheme?

No. We can still offer a strong choice of affordable vehicles that meet customers’ mobility needs without including these brands.

I’ve already ordered a car that’s now been removed. Will my order still go ahead?

Yes. If you ordered your car before 25 November, your order will go ahead as normal. You can check its status in your Motability Scheme online account, or speak to your dealer.

My current car is no longer available on the Scheme. Will my dealer still support me?

Yes. There’s no change to the service or support you get from your dealer during your lease.

I want to order the same car again but it’s no longer available. Can I extend my lease?

You’ll need to return your car at the end of your lease. We recommend starting to look for your next car about three months before your current lease ends. This gives you time to get everything sorted.

I lease a car that’s no longer on the Scheme. Where do I return it when my lease ends?

If you’re getting another car, return your current one at the same time as you collect your new one, to your new dealer.

If you’re leaving the Scheme, return it to your current dealer on the last day of your lease.

Are Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles (WAVs) affected?

No. Essential vehicles like the Mercedes Sprinter are still available for WAV customers.
