We’re pleased to announce our new partnership with Team BRIT, a competitive motor racing team who are on a mission to provide a level playing field for disabled drivers. Meet Noah Cosby and his teammates as they share their experiences with the Motability Scheme.
Who are Team BRIT?
Around half of Team BRIT’s drivers are Motability Scheme customers and they are the world’s only competitive, all-disabled motor racing team. They provide drivers with both physical and psychological disabilities with the opportunity to race alongside able-bodied drivers. Through the development of innovative hand controls, they can competitively race, and drivers with completely different disabilities can pair up as part of the same team.
The team’s ultimate goal is to take an all-disabled team to race in the epic endurance race, the Le Mans 24 Hours.
Meet Noah and his teammates
Motability Scheme customer Noah Cosby joined Team BRIT as a rookie last year and is preparing to take on the 2024 racing season at just 19 years old. Noah was introduced to Team BRIT and the world of competitive racing following a motocross accident when he was 16.
This year is set to be an exciting year for Noah, who collected his first Motability Scheme car just before Christmas. Thanks to the support of the Motability Scheme, Noah has been given the opportunity to race in the 2024 season of the Britcar Trophy. He will be racing in a BMW M240i alongside teammate Asha Silva, a big step up for the pair who completed their rookie season driving a Citroen C1 in the C1 Series.
On the partnership with the Motability Scheme, Noah (pictured above) said:
“It’s hard to put into words how grateful I am for the belief and support of the team at the Motability Scheme. Their backing is enabling me to take the next step on my motorsport journey, which started so brilliantly with Team BRIT last year. It’s the perfect partnership; I have an adapted vehicle which I lease through the Scheme myself using my mobility allowance, as do many of my teammates. The Motability Scheme is all about getting disabled people out, independent, and active, an ethos at the heart of our team.”
Dom (pictured on the left, front row) recently joined Team BRIT after hearing about it through Formula 1 and was excited about the opportunity to race competitively. Dom shares how the Scheme has enabled him to get around independently, he said:
“I’ve been a Scheme customer since the age of 17 when I passed my driving test, and it helps me day-to-day getting around and going to work so I don’t need to rely on public transport.”
Tyrone (pictured on the far right, back row) became involved with Team BRIT after initially wanting to get involved in a track day, but was then offered the opportunity to join the team. With limited mobility in his right leg, hip, hand, and elbow after an accident, he described joining the team as a dream come true for a big motorsports fan like himself. Tyrone also talks about his experience as a Scheme customer, he said:
“I was getting cabs to hospital appointments and then someone pointed out to me that the Motability Scheme could help me get on the road. It’s changed the way I can get around.”
Caleb (pictured second on the far right, back row) is the UK’s only male deaf racing driver. He and Dom will be racing together in a BMW 1 Series in the Britcar Trophy Championship. When asked about what he was most excited about for the coming year, he said:
“I’m looking forward to the BMWs and hopefully I do really well this year!”
Paul (pictured on the far left, back row) was a motorcycle racer for most of his youth, and after losing part of his right leg in an accident, he found a new way to continue with his passion for motor racing. Within a matter of weeks of being introduced to Team BRIT, he was a licensed car racer. Paul highlights his excitement for the partnership with the Motability Scheme, he said:
“It’s an exciting collaboration because when you’re in a racing car, the other drivers don’t know you’re disabled, and when you’re using your Motability car, it’s the same. It’s a really nice feeling.”

About the Scheme
The Motability Scheme offers an all-inclusive package with insurance, breakdown cover, servicing, tyres and glass repair and replacement included.

- Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance
- Higher Rate Mobility Component of Child Disability Payment (Scotland)
- War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement
- Armed Forces Independence Payment
