We’ve recently launched a new option for customers to lease a manual wheelchair with their next Motability Scheme car. This new option is aimed at customers who already use a wheelchair, but who would benefit from having a secondary lightweight wheelchair to use in combination with their car.
So, if you’re a wheelchair user, planning to lease your first car through the Motability Scheme, or already a customer approaching the end of your lease, then this new option could be for you.
Supported by the same level of service you would expect from the Motability Scheme, these new lightweight manual wheelchairs offer enhanced mobility and great value for money. Plus, like all products offered through the Scheme, these lightweight wheelchairs are covered by our worry-free mobility promise; so, if you have any problems during your lease, we’ll take care of it.
There are two different manual wheelchairs to choose from; both come as either self-propelled, if you wish to travel independently, or assistant-propelled, if you need someone to push your wheelchair. Both options are lightweight in design, and fold to allow easy transportation in your Motability Scheme car.
There’s a one-off upfront payment of £100 to lease a lightweight manual wheelchair through the Scheme; at the end of your lease you can return the wheelchair along with your car to the dealership.

Please note, applications for the wheelchair must be placed with your car dealer at the same time as the application for your new car. Once your application has been processed a specialist wheelchair dealer will be in touch to make sure that the lightweight wheelchair will be suitable for your needs.
