We’ve changed our insurance provider

From 1 September, Direct Line Motability (DLM) have replaced RSA Motability (RSAM) as the insurance provider for the Motability Scheme.

Your cover has been transferred automatically, so you do not need to do anything. The main contact numbers have stayed the same too.

We’ve been working to make this transition as seamless as possible for you, but we know you might have a few questions, so we’ve answered some common queries in this article.

You can also find more information on our FAQ pages.

Will I get new insurance documents?

Yes, DLM have started sending new Insurance Cover Notes to all customers on the Motability Scheme. It might take a few weeks for yours to arrive, but you should get it by the end of September.

Once it’s been sent by DLM, it’ll be available to download in your Motability Scheme online account too.

You should also have received a copy of the DLM Insurance Cover Booklet by post or email. If you have not had this, you can download a copy from our FAQ pages.

I need to make a new claim, who do I call?

This depends on when the incident happened. If it was on or before 31 August 2023, you’ll need to report this to RSAM as they insured your vehicle at the time of the incident.

Any incidents that occured on or after 1 September should be reported to DLM.

There’s been no change to the main contact numbers, so you should call 0300 037 3737 if you lease a car or Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV).

If you lease a scooter or powered wheelchair, you should call 0800 294 0790. Or, if the incident you’re reporting happened after 1 September, you can now easily raise a claim online with DLM without needing to call.

Simply sign in or create your Motability Scheme online account and choose ‘Insurance’ in the main menu to get started.

I have an ongoing claim, who will resolve this?

Any claims for incidents before 31 August 2023 will continue to be managed by RSAM. Any claims for incidents after 1 September will be managed by DLM.

There’s no option to choose between RSAM or DLM to manage your claim.

Have my drivers transferred over too?

Yes, your drivers have transferred automatically so you do not need to add them again.

If you’d like to make a change to your drivers, you can still do this in the ‘Insurance’ section of your Motability Scheme online account.

To make it easier, the DLM insurance portal lets you save the details of your previous drivers. This means you can quickly add them back on the policy at a later date, without needing to enter their details again.

If you have any other questions about the move to DLM, visit our FAQ pages for more information.
