Helping powered wheelchair and scooter customers get home safely with Autohome

If you use a powered wheelchair or scooter on the Motability Scheme, you already know how important it is to stay mobile. And if something goes wrong, you will want to get help quickly. That is where Autohome, our specialist breakdown partner, comes in. 


Autohome has been helping customers on the Powered Wheelchair and Scooter Scheme since 2010. They run Motability Assist, our 24-hour breakdown service for powered wheelchair and scooter customers. Their team helps people get home safely wherever they are, from town centres and shopping centres to beaches, national parks and even country paths. 

Always there when you need them 

Their dedicated Motability Assist team is on call all year round, day and night. They have handled more than 50,000 recoveries so far, so you are in experienced hands. 

When you contact them, they will talk you through what to do and stay in touch until you and your wheelchair or scooter are home and safe. If needed, your local dealer can also arrange repairs or a temporary replacement scooter or powered wheelchair. 

Making it easier to find you 

Sometimes the hardest part of a recovery is knowing exactly where you are. Powered wheelchair and scooter customers can travel in places that are harder to reach than roads. To make things easier, Autohome created the Motability Assist app. 

With just one tap on the ‘Rescue Me’ button, the app sends your GPS location straight to Autohome’s control team. This helps them find you faster. They will then call you back to check your details and let you know help is on the way.
