Following the latest announcements regarding COVID-19 and the ‘roadmap’ for easing restrictions, non-essential retail in Scotland is expected to start reopening from 5 April 2021, with the rest of the UK following on 12 April 2021
This means that dealership showrooms, will soon be open again for test drives and face-to-face appointments.
If you have been waiting to visit a dealership before ordering your next car on the Scheme, it is well worth speaking to your dealer now to book an appointment. Dealers are expected to be very busy when they reopen following months of closure and appointments are likely to be limited due to ongoing social distancing measures.
Visiting a dealership
As dealers are continuing to adhere to the ongoing social distancing measures, you must make an appointment to see the Motability Scheme specialist before you visit. Booking an appointment also ensures that they can dedicate enough time to help you choose your next car and arrange a test drive for you. Your dealer will be able to fully explain the safety measures they have in place when you contact them to make an appointment.
You can also watch our video on social distancing at dealerships below to get an idea of what to expect on the day.
What if my lease was automatically extended?
If your lease was automatically extended for six months due to the COVID-19 situation, you don’t have to wait to order your next car. You are free to place your next order at any point during your current lease extension.
Deliveries for new cars have been taking longer than usual and these timescales could increase further once dealerships reopen. To reduce the risk of any delays with your order, we would recommend you start looking for your next car as soon as you can and arrange an appointment with your dealer ready for when they reopen.
