The Direct Line Motability (DLM) insurance portal gives you the flexibility to manage your Motability Scheme insurance online.
The aftermath of an accident can be tricky. But now you can raise a new insurance claim online thanks to the latest feature in the insurance portal.
How to raise a new insurance claim
You can report most types of incidents online. While every claim is different, it should take you around 20 minutes:
Step 1
Sign in or create your Motability Scheme online account.
Step 2
Go to the ‘Insurance’ tab in the main menu on the left-hand side.
Step 3
Enter the DLM insurance portal where you will be logged in automatically. You will not need further details to sign in.
Step 4
Go to the ‘Claims’ section to get started.
Step 5
Provide details about the incident, if anyone else was involved and if there’s any damage to your vehicle. No matter how big or small. This will be done through a series of multiple-choice questions. You’ll also be given the opportunity to upload any supporting documents, including dash cam footage and images.
You’ll then receive confirmation of your claim by text and email.
Set up your Motability Scheme online account
You’ll need to have set up your Motability Scheme online account to access the DLM portal. If you’ve not already done this, you can create an account here.
It should take no longer than five minutes and you’ll be able to manage your Scheme lease at a time that suits you.
All we need is your National Insurance number and date of birth to verify who you are. Once you’ve created your account, you can log in using your chosen email address and password.
We’re always releasing new account features, so keep checking after you’ve signed up to see what’s new.
If your vehicle needs repairs
You’ll be given the details of your assigned repairer when you raise your claim online. Their contact details will also be sent to you via text in case you need to get in touch. They’ll contact you to arrange a convenient date for the repair and keep you updated throughout the process.
To keep you mobile, your assigned repairer can even bring a courtesy car to you when they pick up your Scheme vehicle. We’ll always do our best to give you a suitable replacement.
If you have minor damage
If the damage is light, then you might not need to get your vehicle repaired. We call this a repair not required or RNR. It will still be noted on the DLM system and you’ll be issued a reference number, but it’s not recorded as a claim. There’s no excess to pay and you can continue driving your vehicle as usual. Once you’ve filled out all the information online, we’ll let you know if this option applies.
